THE city of Leicester WILL stay in lockdown the Health Secretary confirmed.
No 10 had been concerned about a recent spike in cases in the area, with questions raised about a second shutdown.
It means pubs, restaurants and hairdressers in Leicester will remain closed for two more weeks following a series of local outbreaks.
The outbreak has seen dozens of fresh cases admitted to the area’s hospitals.
There have been 658 cases in the area in the two weeks up to June 16.
Meanwhile the Government has confirmed that it will drop the 14-day quarantine for travellers arriving into the UK with the full list of countries exempt from self-isolation rules to be outlined this week.
